Bates Nut Farm in October

In October, we went to the Bates Nut Farm to get Troy a pumpkin.

David and my wife went also. Lucy did not go because we did a lousy job of explaining what Bates Nut Farm is (nuts sound boring), but next year we will do a better job so she'll join us.

BNF is located on acreage outside of Valley Center. In October, San Diegans flock to the place en masse.

The owners (the Bates?) live on the property. I just hope they don't build a hotel here because not many people would spend the night at the Bates Hotel.

They have a country store on the premises also.
Troy with his father.

There are many kid oriented activities.

But what Troy really wanted was a cart ride, so we got in line.

I'm not sure how he did it, but he spotted two horses through the orange fencing.
And off he went...

Here is what he was looking at.

Troy, David and my wife are in the third cart back.
Pointing out more horses.

It's time to pick out a pumpkin!
At first he is not sure what to do...
But then he gets the hang of it.

Will someone turn down that sun a bit please?
