Just Walking Down The Street, I saw this 1949 Alfa...

 I was looking through old photos this weekend when I stumbled across these that I took in August 2012 in Carmel.  It was Concours d'Elegance week and the nearby town of Carmel is full of cars and live music and fun in the days surrounding that event.  Somehow when I did my original post on the show back in 2012, I did not talk about this car that was just parked on the street.

We were out looking for a place to have dinner when I saw this by the curb.  Just parked there, with no one around.  I knew instantly it was something special and probably unrestored so I took a few photos while my wife patiently waited.

Turns out I was right - this is car sold a year and a half later for $324,500 at a Sotheby's auction.  Read more about the history of the car here.

2013 Concours d'Elegance: Class V - Race Cars

Race cars are not much my thing, so I didn't really take any photos of them.  Though they didn't capture any of the Indy cars, the site linked to here did capture some of the early race cars.

Arriving at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

 We went to our second Pebble  Beach Concours d'Elegance this year and totally enjoyed it. When we arrived, we parked in the field as directed. As we exited, we noticed deer grazing by one of the greens.

 Approaching the gate to the show are exhibits. Like this Porsche exhibit showing a concept they had.  Hmmmm...

 No, Jaguar's exhibit wasn't empty. The cars were further down. Not sure why they put these letters over here.

And we entered the show. Yeowza!  that's a lot of people!

2012 Concours d'Elegance: Cars of the Maharajas - and Jay Leno

 One of the special exhibits at this year's show was of the automobiles owned by India's Maharajas.

 I didn't notice it when I snapped this photo, but do you know who the fellow in the blue shirt is?

 It is dawning on my wife right about now...she tells me right after I took this photo.
