Comic-Con: Going Home

 And, after spending all day Thursday and Friday at Comic-Con, we were all spent by mid-afternoon on Saturday. We decided to call it a day and head home. So we stepped out into the bright sunshine (an unusual thing for us Geeks), passed the medieval warriors (guess we're not totally back to reality yet), and headed towards the Trolley station. That's my wife in the pink.

 As soon as the bus got out of the way....

 ...we could see beautiful San Diego. Man, we love living here. The Gaslamp District, the best place for dinner & nightclubbing in San Diego, is straight ahead with the brick building being the Hard Rock Hotel.

 Look at the mass of people! No, this is not typical for a Saturday afternoon in the Gaslamp, these people are ALL here for The Big Show.

 After standing on her feet for two and a half days, my beautiful wife is still smiling.

 As we waited for the all-clear so we could cross the trolley tracks, I spied this gem taped to a light post.

 And, as if just for me, there was a display for The Green Hornet right next to the Trolley Stop. I wonder how many photos that gangsta's butt is in now? lol

 San Diego's finest metro cops did a great job of keeping order.

 And....guess what language this trolley sign is in? Figured it out yet?

Well read this notice and you'll know.

 We were surprised to see Bob's Burgers stands by the trolley station, as we didn't know there were such a thing. Turns out there isn't. These are temporary burger joints put up just for The Big Show, to advertise a new TV Show coming next season called "Bob's Burgers", surprisingly.

 And who did we spy waiting for the trolley but Batman and Cat Woman. Yes, there they sat, all smiles and in chipper mood even though they had to be as worn out as we were. And the sun beating on those black outfits could not have been comfortable.

 But as soon as they saw me snap their photo, they jumped up and posed. I just love the people who go to Comic-Con. They are really something.

 One more smile...

...now where is that trolley?

My Favorite Billboard

Right about dusk on Saturday, my wife and I were heading to a nightclub along the coast when we passed this billboard on the 78 freeway. We got such a kick out of it that I went back by at dusk on Sunday and took this photo. To the man (or woman?) who thought putting up this "Your Wife Is Hot" sign: thank you, and I agree!

Ron Buys a Charger

 Our son Ron came down from Chico this summer with three goals: to look over the larger number of Chargers available in Southern California, to buy one, and to visit Troy. He was successful on all counts.

 And what a nice car he selected. He picked out this 2009 Dodge Charger Deep Water Blue Pearl SXT. It is absolutely a great car all the way around - how it feels, how it drives, and how it looks.

 We lack a 4-door in our household (we have a Mustang, a Vette, and a regular cab Silverado) so we've been discussing adding a 4 door to our collection. With all the visitors we had this summer, we really needed a car that seats 4-5 people. A Charger identical to this one would work quite nicely.

 Ron has always been a Chrysler fan, and I guess I didn't realize just how much until now. He loved the Viper, the Ram, the Stratus, and a few other cars in between. We know that the Charger will be redesigned for 2011, but he loves the current car so much he wanted to make sure he got one.

 Marcy seemed to give her stamp of approval too as she came out with us for the photo shoot in front of our house.

 We all love that aggressive front end.

 He's been without a car for about a year now, and is getting to a point in his life where a bicycle just doesn't cut it in all situations. Chico is very easy to do on a bike, but it probably isn't the best thing for dates. lol

 Anyway, congrats, Ron. You made a very wise choice. Please don't get angry if I buy one, too.

Troy at 9 months

A few videos of Troy on July 28th, when we was 9 months and 5 days old. His mother Lucy is holding him and the voices you hear are my wife and my son Ron who was down visiting us from his home in Chico, located in northern California (600 miles away). Troy's father David (our other son) must have been at work when these were taken.












As much as I love that Troy Boy, I promise the next few posts will be on a different topic...stay tuned as I plan on having 4 to 5 more posts this week.

Jerry and Patty Visit Troy

 The last weekend in July, my father Jerry and his new wife Patty came to see their first great grandchild, Troy Barker. Troy was his typical angel self and put on a great show for us all.

 As we noticed when our son Ron arrived a week earlier, Troy is pretty stand-offish for about 24 hours with anyone new. But the second time he sees you, you're A-OK in his book.

 We also took Jerry and Patty to one of our favorite restaurants in north San Diego county, Stone Brewery. Yes, this is the building where they make their Arrogant Bastard and Pale Ale brews...and they serve some pretty mean food too. Their wine selection is quite nice, but what we usually do is order their beer sampler. And finally, their Soft & Stinky Cheese Plate is not to be missed.
