Ames Malcolm Barker

Our newest grandson, Ames Malcolm Barker, born at 3:31 this morning in San Francisco.

Welcome to the world, little man!

Smoke Alarm Battery Replacement

This month, we had two of our seven smoke alarms sound the "low battery" alarm, so we replaced the batteries in all seven.

Those batteries didn't even last a year!  They were replaced in April 2018!

The battery on the left is the old battery.  We replaced them on September 27, 2019 with the batteries on the right.  We'll see how long these last...

Dinner With The Boys

Friday nights out to dinner with the family continues to be a great way to wind down a busy week.

Here's Troy waiting for his dinner at Pizza Nova one night.
 Teo patiently waiting for his.
And a shot of them both!
Troy's soccer team (Iron Men) had a pizza party at Killer Pizza from Mars to celebrate a great season.  Here are Troy and Teo enjoying pizza with the team.

Beautiful San Diego Evening

We are truly lucky to live in San Diego.

This is the view tonight from our back yard.

Thanksgiving

We started the preparation for Thanksgiving the night before.  Pumpkin donuts being made for the next morning!  Mary and Troy are hard at work making sure everything will be perfect.
As usual, the kitchen became the gathering spot as the evening progressed.  From left: Dave, Troy, Mary with our soon to be 3rd grandson, Ron, and Laura.
Back to work!  Troy and Mary conversing.
 Cooper assisted!
 Thanksgiving morning!   Busy as bees...
Everything is ready - time for a group photo!

Back row: Laura, Dave, Ron, Mary

Front row: Troy and Teo
Back row: Jerald, Dave, Laura, Mary (two months to due date!)

Front row: Troy and Teo

Teo is at an age where he usually doesn't like posing for photos...
It was a beautiful day outside.
 Dave's new truck!
 After dinner Rummikub.

Del Mar Races

We've lived in San Diego for decades, and the first time we went to the races together was this year - and we made it twice!  Once on opening day, and now again in November.  My company paid for this trip, and we are very thankful.  A lot of fun!
We arrived early to pick a spot we liked, and decide the patio outside the restaurant was best.
The view inside the restaurant my company rented was nice, but the view of the track was limited.
Co'workers started arriving and the party was on!
The deck outside was where the real fun was.
 Back to our favorite spot...
And now, a few shots of the main attraction: the horses.

Egret

I stepped outside today and an egret swooped down and landed on my roof.

This appears to be a Great Egret with a wingspan of about 5 feet.
