Napa 2016 - The Supplies

The trip was quite a success - we really enjoyed it!

Bringing lunch supplies helped immensely.  This is what we bought at the grocery store Saturday morning in the rain.  Debbie had given us the red chest as a present.  It worked beautifully since it it collapses (fit into the luggage well).
We ended up bringing home 6 bottles of wine and having another 6 shipped.

From Luna, we bought a Pinot Grigio and a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Pinot Grigio is our second favorite type of wine (Sauvignon Blanc being #1), and we bought the Cabernet to stretch outside of our box a bit.  It tasted very good.  For a red anyway.  lol
From Cairdean we bought a Chardonnay.  Chardonnay is our #3 favorite wine - as long as it is from a steel barrel.  We don't like oak.

Which is why we also bought the St Supery Oak-Free Chardonnay.
Finally, we bought two wines at Castello di Amorosa:  the Il Passito and La Fantasia.

The castle described Il Passito as being "bottled honey" and I think that is quite right.  They gave us chocolate to eat with it, and that combination was fabulous!  So we have some chocolate for the day we decide to open that bottle.

I don't really recall why we bought the La Fantasia.  Both these castle wines are going to be very sweet which is typically not our thing.  But maybe there was a good reason why we chose these.  We shall see.

Lastly, there is the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc we bought at V. Sattui.  Three bottles of each, shipped home.  These are right up our alley and I look forward to opening them.
And let's not forget the rental car.  We got a Fiat 500X which worked very well for this trip.
It was small, easy to park, had enough power, and provided easy access to everything.
We liked it so much that we are considering it for my wife's next car.  Even the orange grew on us.
My only two complaints:  it felt a bit twitchy on the freeway (likely due to the short wheelbase) and the speedometer was not centered in front of the driver.  It was to the left.  I like keeping a close eye on speed, so that was not optimal for me.
But all in all a great little car for around town and even short freeway stints.
