Rome: Quick Tour #2

Here is the second line on the CitySightSeeingRoma bus tour. This is out front of Circo Massimo again.

A typical sidestreet off of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.

This side street is Via dei Baullari, which leads to the popular square Piazza Campo de Fiori, which we'll visit in the "Rome at Night" post.

Love the respect given to the "do not enter" sign.

 Going back by the Vatican!

An outside cafe just a block or so from St. Peter's Square.

 St. Peter's Square.

The old Roman walls again, this section is from the 9th century.
Let's take a quick look through some of the arches in the old Roman walls...

This is how you get a drum home if you have a friend with a motorcycle.

More of the old Roman walls.

Let's take a look at some of the streets in Rome.

This building is home to the Italian Supreme Court.

There were beautiful doorways in Rome.
Note the horse hoof.

 The Tiber River.

 Sun Microsystems!

Entrance to Villa Borghese, a huge park in the center of Rome.

People lounging along the edge of Villa Borghese.

Going through a port in the old Roman walls...

To my way of thinking, they put these cement posts and metal rail around this fountain to keep people out, dontcha think?

So I'm so glad that people...

 ...respect that nonverbal cue.

I'd need a drink after watching people do that all day too, buddy.

 Fontana del Mose.

 Piazza della Repubblica.

In the rest of Italy, we mentioned that a common feature was laundry hanging from every available window. Well, we didn't see that in Rome. What we did see was an abundance of wiring hung on the outside of buildings. Here is a prime example.

The central rail station in Rome, the beautifully designed Roma Termini.

 Piazza della Repubblica.

Via Vittorino da Feltre, with the Colosseum in the background.
